Our Dog Grooming Courses
Here at Leeds Dog Grooming Academy we offer hands on dog grooming courses teaching various different grooming techniques to give you the best quality of learning, this is all operated from our centre in Leeds. Our courses are designed to give you all of the right skills and qualifications you need to become a professional dog groomer. The skills that you acquire will give you the freedom to work for a business or to create a dog grooming business of your own.
The Leeds Dog Grooming Academy courses does not require any written coursework other than notes you may wish to take during tuition. Our vocational, accredited training is 100% hands-on from day one.
At Leeds Dog Grooming Academy we provide a dog model for you from the very beginning. This is to make sure that you get the most out of the sessions while you are there as you will not need to share a dog with somebody else.

Intense Dog Grooming Course
This course is a development of skills and knowledge in dog grooming and aimed towards people who would like to take up dog grooming as a profession. In this course you will learn all of the basics of dog grooming, you will cover topics such as animal handling, the right tools and equipment you need, animal preparation, bathing and drying, de matting dogs, health checks, teeth cleaning, dog behaviours and how to handle the dog safely. You will be taught by our experienced professional dog groomers, they will be there to guide you and give you pointers when needed. They will also be able to help you develop knowledge of different breeds of dogs and the different techniques that are needed to become a dog groomer. Our groomers are also there to answer any questions that you have so don’t be afraid to ask!
This course would be a 1 day a week for 10 weeks on a Wednesday or a Sunday for those who might work full time as this will be 9am-5pm. After completing this course you will be able to start and finish a full groom to a good standard, multiple dogs will be provided for you during this course or if it makes you more comfortable then you are able to bring your own dog.
We also provide you with a theory booklet with everything that we think is important for you to know while completing our dog grooming course. These courses take place in small groups of 2-3 students we do this to maximise 1 to 1 learning so that you get the best out of our tutors.

Groom your own Dog
The course is an introduction to the whole industry of dog grooming, this course is aimed at people who would like to learn to groom their own dog. We offer this fun experience to give you the skills needed to look after your loved dogs. In this course we will show you how to control your dog between professional grooming services, and how to style them to the way you love. This course will only take 1 session.
In this course you will cover all of the basic skills you will need to groom your dog, this includes
Health and safety for you and your dog
How to complete a health check of your dog
Washing and drying using the correct shampoos
Learning the different techniques and styles specific to your dog
How to handle your dog during grooming
Consistent grooming has lots of different benefits including, Grooming every 4-6 weeks keeps your dogs coat and skin healthy and prevents your dog from matting.
You will also be able to save yourself time and vet fees by learning to groom your own dog.
